July Home Improvement Tip: Check Well & Outdoor Water Systems
It’s likely in Grey County that your home uses a well or you rely on outdoor water sources for gardens, pools, or livestock. July is a great time to do a quick mid-summer check. With higher seasonal water use in Northern Ontario, wells can be under more strain than usual.
Take a few minutes to test your water pressure, listen for unusual pump cycling, and make sure hoses, outdoor taps, and irrigation lines aren’t leaking. Even small drips can signal worn fittings or a pump working harder than it should.
If you notice sediment, reduced flow, or cloudy water, it may be worth scheduling a well inspection or filter check before peak summer demand increases further. Preventative maintenance now helps avoid mid-season surprises when you’re using the most water.

Grey County Apple Cider Spritz
A twist on the delicious, refreshing Aperol Spritz using apple cider instead of prosecco. If you are familiar with Grey County, you’ll know it’s home to several delicious apple cider houses. Using the iconic 3-2-1 ratio: 3 oz Cider, 2 oz Aperol, and 1 oz club soda. Let me know which cider makes the perfect Spritz!
Prep time: 15 mins | Cook time: 5 mins | Serves: 1
Ingredients
Ice
3 oz Apply Cider
2 oz Aperol
1 oz club soda
1 fresh orange slice (for garnish)
Instructions
- Fill the glass: Fill a large wine glass or balloon glass three-quarters full with ice.
- Pour the alcohol: Add the 3 oz of Apple Cider, followed immediately by the 2 oz of Aperol.
- Add fizz: Top it off with 1 oz of club soda.
- Stir and garnish: Stir gently to combine, then slide the orange slice into the glass or rest it on top.
